Qualifications: You must have, or be predicted to gain, a 2:1degree classification or above in aComputer Science, Computer Engineering or Computer Information Systemsdiscipline.

About the role

The Global Solutions Development Team deliver technology solutions for business change with a laser focus on Quality, User Experience, Pace & Cost. We conceive, define & develop technology across the whole product life cycle from ideation through to implementation. We deliver projects ranging from rapid development to large scale programmes, working with partners inside and outside of National Grid. This involves discovering customer and user needs and turning those needs into quality solutions to enable business value to be realised soonest.

This opportunity to gain experience and develop a career path in the Software Development and IT industry.

You can gain experience in the following disciplines:

  • Technical Project Management
  • The Software Development Lifecycle, including Agile and Waterfall techniques
  • Business analysis
  • Solution Architecture and Design
  • Devops, Software and Test Engineering
  • Project and Programme Management
What you'll do

The Solutions Development department deals with a wide range of business and technical functions, giving you opportunity to gain experience in a wide variety of environments.

  • Control systems for the electricity and gas networks. Complex, bespoke systems dealing with large amounts of realtime data doing a job which is critical for the nation.
  • Back-office business systems using large corporate platforms such as SAP, Salesforce and SuccessFactors
  • Commercial bespoke systems built with modern cloud-based technology providing services for Web, Mobile, Data Analytics and AI.
  • Quality Engineering services providing test strategy, planning and automation, test environment management and test data management

You will receive a starting salary of £28,105 (or £29,127 if you hold a Masters) and a £2000 joining bonus.
