Advanced Apprentice Substation Craftsperson (South East - Sussex and Romney)
About you and the roleAs a Substation Craftsperson, you will carry out maintenance, repair, and monitoring of high voltage substation equipment, under the guidance of a specified team. Ensuring that National Grid can meet its requirements for safety, efficiency and dependability is vital to this role. The role exists within an industry with a high level of safety-critical activities, so there is a requirement for a disciplined and considered approach to work. You will learn to carry out risk assessments, diagnose faults, and make repairs, using electrical theories and your technical knowledge to maintain the integrity of the network. This role is physically demanding so you will need a good level of physical fitness in order to access positions at height and you must be happy to work outside in all weathers
What you'll needTo apply for this role, you’ll need to have achieved 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above/4-9including English Language, Maths andScience.You will also need to hold a valid full UK car driving licence or be willing to learn to drive and agreeto secure a valid full UK car driving licence within 12 months of joining the programme.
