About you and the roleHere at the Transmission Network Control Centre (TNCC), we are at the heart of real time remote operational control of the high voltage electricity transmission system. The ‘Network’ consists of over 14,000km of circuit (400kV and 275kV), nearly 800 supergrid transformers and 340 substations.
The TNCC Control Room operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is responsible for a number of critical activities including facilitating safe access to the Network for maintenance and construction, responding to faults, events, alarms and phone calls, and ensuring the safety of our Operations teams in the field.
What you'll needTo be considered for this role you'll need to have enthusiasm and a willingness to learn,be passionate about tackling climate change along with acurious, questioning mind. You'll also need:
GCSE Maths, English Language and a Science GCSE at a 4/C and above
2 A-Levels - 1 must be in either Maths or Physics (Grade C or above)
BTEC National Certificate Level 3 in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or Engineering (Merit or Distinction with the Maths modules being Merit or Distinction)
BTEC National Diploma Level 3 in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or Engineering (Merit or Distinction with the Maths modules being Merit or Distinction)
ONC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (Merit or Distinction with the Maths modules being Merit or Distinction)
HNC/HND in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering (Pass, Merit or Distinction)
Degree in Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering
You must hold a valid full UK car driving licence, or be willing to learn to drive and agree to secure a valid full UK car driving licence within 3months after joining the programme.
